Christianity without Dogma - a Look at Christian Discipleship
Numerous people end up at a time where they simply don’t know what to do next. You might be a student who’s just got your degree, or perhaps you are recently retired from work. Possibly you’ve been laid off from work and are demoralised at having no job, but every bit as disheartened by the type of work opportunities available. During these times, we frequently seek an alternative course of action. An organization called DNA (dna-uk.org) are proffering a new option - an opportunity to make great use of your sabbatical year by entering a discipleship christian course.
DNA offer placements in Christian churches, ranging from October to August. This is seen as a pragmatic experience, needing the participant to dwell in a Christian environment - either within your own church if you already attend one, or an assigned church if you’re not currently a member of a church. Your regular day will involve helping out with the day-to-day activities of the church, and to be trained by its members in bible studies. The course promises faith in action, so those who join can anticipate a very pragmatic experience of living their faith, and not simply the study of it.
Further selling points of the placements include:-
- being challenging, radical and life altering
- training you for the workplace
- dependence on the person and force of the Holy Spirit in and through you
- offering an accredited programme through the National Open College Network
There are 3 sorts of course available : Track 1 is the most popular access point to DNA - it is the fullest DNA expereince. The over-whelming majority of people select this as the best-fit pick for them. Track 2 is more appropriate to you if taking a full gap year is not pragmatically possible. This could be for issues such as work or family commitments. Track 2 consequently provides some flexibility. Track 3 provides people the opportunity of joining us for as many specific training sessions or days as they want.
