Deep Breathing Is Good for You!

One elementary way to keep your body cleansed, nourished and disease-free is to oxygenate the body on a regular basis. This is a breath technique that involves nothing more than filling the lungs with heart-healthy air. The simplistic act of oxygenating our bodies is a mighty exercise that will assist your body’s normal detoxification function?

Breathing air is something we do every day all day long. Unfortunately our air may be polluted in many cities, so remember this fact. You don’t want to practice your deep breathing technique standing on a bustling street as you wait for your bus. It’s always best to do your breathing practice at home, inside or outdoors if you live in a place where the air is fresh and clean.

Stand straight and tall. Then take in a deep, soothing breath, filling up your stomach until you sense it might explode. Keep in the air as long as you’re able (never, ever force it), and then softly exhale the breath out your mouth. The exercise involves 5 to 10 inhalations and exhalations in this mode.

If you want, you can alter this breathing technique by bringing the arms over your head as you inhale, and then softly lowering the arms when you exhale.

When you do deep breathing exercises, the body drives oxygen into the blood stream, which then delivers it into your cells to nourish and detoxify them of toxins. Augmented oxygen in the system energizes the blood flow and circulation of lymph fluid through our lymphatic system. Both the blood and lymph are key functions in our body’s purification abilities.
